MOTOGP | Best Friday morning in Valencia, Guevara beats Moreira by a narrow margin
MOTOGP NEWS : Izan Guevara (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team), the current Moto3 World Champion, set the quickest lap time in FP1 at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana, the venue for Round 20 of the Moto3TM World Championship. In his last lap of the practice at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team rider posted a 1:39.533, 0.010 seconds faster than Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets – MSI). A 1:39.533 was also made by Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing), who is fighting with Guevara’s teammate Sergio Garcia for second in the World Championship, but that time was disallowed since it was recorded in a yellow flag zone.
Considering that marshals and David Muoz were still walking away from the area after the BOE Motorsports driver had a tumble of his own, it’s likely that the yellow flag was brought out by an accident at Turn 6 involving Moreira, who is now under investigation. Foggia would be sixth with a 1:39.780 and Garcia (Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team) would be eighth with a 1:39.855. Third would go to Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Ajo) with a 1:39.683, and fourth to Ayumu Sasaki (Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max), who has a slim chance of capturing second in the standings.
Later on Friday at 13:15 (GMT +1), the Moto3 drivers will return to the circuit for FP2!
